Weekly Roundup
May 14, 2026
Check out this week's roundup of the good things going on at GDG! Stories this week feature a dance fundraiser in Minnesota, a cancer non-profit impacted in Nebraska, a student budgeting for their project in Nevada, and a scholarship reflection from a DC/NY traveler in Montana.
Piper - Minnesota
With the $100, I paid for my dance studio's concessions for our Nutcracker performance. With the money we made from sales, we donated it all to our scholarship fund: The Oliver Wening Memorial Scholarship. In total, we ended up making $200.
Tucker - Nebraska
I went to Angels Among Us which is a program for cancer families and I bought toys and games for them. It made me feel happy to make those kids have a great time while they have cancer.
Sabrina - Nevada
My experience in the Benjamin Project was a fun experience. I learned how to budget and I learned how to compromise when things I needed weren't available. During the project, I had so much fun shopping for the kids we were assigned. Through the process, I bonded with my classmates while helping them be productive and leading them to success. To wrap it up, I learned budgeting, how to be with other strong leaders, how to communicate with my group and how to compromise when items were unavailable. Overall it was such a fun experience!
Harry - Montana
I wanted to reach out to Global Doing Good Scholarships for the scholarship that enabled me to go on my DC/NY trip. I am so grateful for my experience in the great cities, and it is all thanks to you. Whether it be a humbling cemetery or a 5-star meal, I am so glad for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I wanted to share some of the amazing things I got to do. On our first day of the trip, we went to Arlington Cemetery outside of DC. This was probably the highlight of the trip for me because of how incredible the large memorial was. Our tour guide told us stories of some people who died and were buried there, as well as explaining the history. In the cemetery lies the eternal flame, a memorial to JFK, an extremely influential president in American history. It was truly humbling and breathtaking to be in the presence of such an important figure.
I am truly grateful for this opportunity to go on this amazing trip. It was certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will never forget. The huge memorials and dazzling skyscrapers truly left an impact on me forever. I am deeply appreciative of your support for me on the trip and thankful that I got to go. Thank you.
