This international service learning experience takes students down the road less traveled to reveal a Costa Rica that few ever see.
DESCRIPTION
Service, Culture, and Adventure Despite the fact that Costa Rica has become a major tourist destination, poverty exists and, in fact, is becoming more pronounced. Lack of jobs, and quality education, especially in rural areas, has created major challenges for local families. These challenges provide an opportunity for Global Doing Good to make a positive impact in Costa Rica. We build homes for families in need and support locals schools through scholarships, English language instruction, building projects, and supplying educational resources. Along the way, students will interact with the beautiful people of Costa Rica, and be able to enjoy some of the adventure that makes this a desirable destination for travelers worldwide. Academic Themes: Culture of Service, Sustainable Tourism, Poverty in Developing Nations |
